A Classic Black-and-White Affair | Styled Wedding Shoot at Garman Hill

April 26, 2025

There’s something timeless about the elegance of black and white. On April 26, 2025, we brought that vision to life with a formal styled wedding shoot at Garman Hill in Wilder, Idaho—an event designed to feel as real as any wedding we’ve planned.

In keeping with the theme, all guests wore black attire, creating a cohesive, high-end atmosphere. The only person not in black? The groom, portrayed by Landon, who stood out in a deep blue suit that added the perfect touch of color. His real-life girlfriend, Katie, stepped into the role of bride, wearing a lovely, strapless, traditional gown provided by Milestones Studios.

Getting ready is often one of the most emotional and meaningful parts of a wedding day, and Jacey with The Vanity brought her signature calm energy and skillful artistry to the bridal suite as she prepped our model, Katie, to step into the role of the bride. From perfecting Katie’s complexion to creating a soft yet defined glam look that felt timeless and radiant, Jacey made sure every detail was camera-ready. Her approach is always collaborative, listening closely to each client’s comfort level and vision, and blending it with her professional expertise to create a look that feels like the best version of you.

When classic sophistication meets modern refinement, the result is an invitation suite as timeless as the love it represents. For our black-and-white styled shoot at Garman Hill, we curated wedding invitations that embodied effortless luxury. Printed on creamy white cardstock with a crisp black border, each piece was thoughtfully designed—where elegant script met polished print for a perfect balance of tradition and contemporary style. A sleek black ribbon bow added a subtle, tactile detail, reinforcing the understated opulence of the theme. The suite included both the main invitation and a refined details card, ensuring guests understood the significance of the formal dress code. Just as every element of the wedding day was carefully considered, so too was the stationery—setting the tone for an event steeped in timeless beauty and intentional design.

The aisle was a vision of effortless sophistication. Each clear vase held a single white rose, its velvety petals standing out above the transparent glass, a quiet yet powerful symbol of grace. Next to those, votive candles cast a steady glow—soft, inviting, and endlessly romantic. This intentional pairing created a pathway that wasn’t just beautiful, but deeply atmospheric, setting the stage for a moment filled with love, anticipation, and timeless elegance.

When the bridal party has an uneven number of attendants, creativity and elegance go hand in hand to ensure a seamless processional. For this styled wedding shoot, we decided on an uneven number. The four bridesmaids and two groomsmen created a stunning visual as they walked down the aisle in pairs. Each groomsman escorted two bridesmaids, with one gracefully linked on each arm, forming a balanced and sophisticated arrangement. This approach not only maintained symmetry but also highlighted the cohesiveness of the wedding party, adding a beautifully curated aesthetic to the ceremony. The group moved in perfect harmony, allowing the moment to feel natural and fluid as they made their way toward the altar, setting the tone for a truly memorable day.

We chose calla lilies for both the bridal bouquet and the bridesmaids' arrangements—and the result was breathtaking in its simplicity. For the bride, a cluster of three long-stemmed calla lilies was hand-tied with black ribbon, creating a sculptural and sophisticated bouquet that felt modern yet timeless. Each bridesmaid carried a single stem, echoing the bride’s bouquet and reinforcing the minimalist elegance of the day. This choice wasn’t just beautiful—it was intentional. Calla lilies are naturally refined, making a powerful visual statement with very little fuss. Their clean lines and symbolic ties to purity and elegance made them the perfect match for our black-and-white theme. Even better? This approach is a budget-friendly option that proves you don’t need an abundance of flowers to make a luxurious impact. With just a few carefully chosen blooms, we elevated the atmosphere while keeping the design sleek, cohesive, and cost-conscious.

Tyler with Milestones Union served as our officiant for this styled wedding, bringing his warm presence and steady confidence to the ceremony. For this shoot, we chose to position the officiant off to the side, rather than centered behind the couple, allowing the focus to remain on the bride, groom, and their wedding party in photos. This subtle shift is a thoughtful option for couples who may not have a personal relationship with their officiant or who simply prefer a cleaner visual composition for their ceremony images. Tyler’s ability to adapt to each couple’s preferences—while still delivering a meaningful and personalized ceremony—is part of what makes him such a valued member of our team.

The elegant two-tier cake, designed by Cakes by Blythe, was a true work of edible art. With subtle texture on the top tier and modern gold foil detailing on the base, this cake combined classic sophistication with contemporary flair. The bold use of white, black, and gold elements gave it a refined edge—perfect for a formal evening wedding. Every element of Blythe’s cake design was intentional, down to the handcrafted sugar florals that added height and dimension without overpowering the simple, clean silhouette. It was a stunning piece of artwork.

For cocktail hour and toasts, we featured Idaho Tipsy Trailers' beautifully styled mobile beverage cart, which brought a luxe speakeasy feel to the outdoor setting. Decorated with black chiffon and classic coupe glasses, the cart was accented with lush white florals and greenery that tied in seamlessly with the rest of the decor. This charming cart added a functional yet fashionable element to the celebration, offering guests a stylish spot to grab a drink while enjoying sweeping views at golden hour.

As the evening unfolded, guests danced on the manicured lawn with the sun setting behind the venue, casting a golden glow over the entire celebration. It was pure magic—one of those moments that makes all the planning worth it. Garman Hill’s setting truly shines in these golden hours, with its open skies, expansive lawn, and thoughtfully maintained grounds offering a picturesque backdrop that feels both luxurious and intimate. The natural beauty of the landscape, paired with the venue’s elegant design, creates an atmosphere where every moment—from the first dance to the final toast—feels cinematic. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t just host a wedding; it elevates it.

This shoot wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our incredible models and team.
