Welcome to Milestones Studios, LLC,

Hello everyone! The new year has arrived, and our company is celebrating one year in business this month! So, Amy is here to give you some information about us, our business, and everything that created our company to help you with your wedding from beginning to end. But first, let's talk about the history of the company.

We started Milestones Portraits about 15 years ago (we can hardly believe so much time has passed -- wow!) in Meridian, Idaho. The truth is that I was a photographer for almost 10 years before that. I worked in chain studios and managed one. I became certified with both companies, and this is where my love for photography bloomed. Since then, I have studied feverishly and ventured out on my own. Since around 2006, Tyler and I have been taIking about opening a wedding venue and offering multiple services, a one stop shop if you will. So, we did open a studio in 2013 and loved it, this was a great place to start. Unfortunately, someone thought they needed my equipment more than I did. The studio was broken into, and I lost the most valuable items. Yes, I had insurance, but that did not fix my feelings of defeat and safety. As Tyler and I navigated the waters of what to do next, I scaled back my business and provided photography services to those who had my contact information and would reach out to me, mostly family and close friends. During this time, I photographed weddings, seniors, engagement, maternity, and newborns. I sometimes feel like I am making excuses for scaling back, but in reality, I have accepted these are reasons, not excuses. In addition to losing my business in 2014, I previously lost my mom in 2011 and my dad joined her in 2017. Both of these losses were major unexpected life adjustments. In the years since those devasting incidents, we have adjusted well, and our children have grown up.

Our oldest daughter is Jacey. She is now a licensed cosmetologist in Idaho. Jacey did not become a cosmetologist to get into the wedding industry. She made the decision to attend cosmetology school on her own. She has always been interested in beauty, so this was the obvious choice for her, she is a natural. Jacey was successful in salons and now she is a licensed cosmetology instructor at Oliver Finley in Boise. Her expertise enhances your natural beauty to help you feel your most confident self on your wedding day. Something that sets her apart is that she will tend to the men also. The groom is a very important part of his wedding and Jacey will also make sure he and the groomsmen are in tip top shape from fingernails to the hairstyle. It is up to you, just let her know what you would like her to take care of on your wedding day.

Jenna, our middle daughter, decided to become a certified wedding planner. You see, she has been my photography assistant since she was about 10 years old. She has always enjoyed being a part of the wedding day. After discussing becoming partners in the business, she decided to take a leap of faith and do it! Low and behold, it was the perfect decision for her. Funny story time, I was cleaning out some old boxes and I came across her folder from 4th grade. Guess what! It was titled "Jenna Burden-Event Planner". It was right then and there; I knew she made the correct choice for her profession. Not that I ever doubted her, but it really sealed the deal. Once we decided to become partners, Jacey landed a new job as an instructor giving her weekends off, so she partnered with us as well.

Our youngest daughter, Joslyn, recently graduated from high school. This girl is talented, let me tell you! Her gift is art. She has also partnered with us. Her specialty is fencing murals, but is perfecting her craft in other areas, as well. Guess what? She is now offering her services of custom artwork for homes and weddings. Wedding gifts to your friends and family for attending and celebrating your marriage is an important part of the overall wedding guest experience. Instead of providing your guests with something that will be eaten or even left behind, hire Joslyn with Painted! to offer your guests a custom portrait of themselves to take home. Every time they look at it, they will be reminded of your magical wedding day. This will be created during the reception and ready for your guests to take home before the night ends. You will also have the option to have a portrait of your guests printed for your guest book. For more details, please contact us.

Milestones Portraits is now offering digital watercolor portraits to add on to any portrait session or wedding. This is a physical 5x7 print on watercolor paper. More information and examples can be found on our website.

And guess what...rounding off new services we offer, Tyler is ordained in the State of Idaho to perform ceremonies. He will soon be providing his services as well.

2024 looks to be another amazing year for what we have to offer.
